Jasper Jones

Corrigan, WA, 1965. Charlie Bucktin is the only teenager who reads books in a sports-mad town. His best mate Jeffrey Lu isn’t having such a good time either. Jasper Jones lives on the outside of town and keeps himself under the radar.

One summer night, Jasper takes Charlie to his secret glade. Charlie witnesses a terrible discovery and is embroiled in a plot with more twists and turns than the novels he so dearly loves.

“Barking Gecko has built a fine reputation – greatly enhanced under John Sheedy as its artistic director since 2010 – as it made the ambitious transition from a children’s theatre company to one for young people of all ages.”
David Zampatti
The West Australian
“Kate Mulvany’s skilful adaptation adds stagecraft to Silvey’s novel, and Sheedy brings their work to life with surety and not a little inspiration.”

“Barking Gecko has done itself proud with this production of Jasper Jones. It’s an awful shame it’s completely sold-out, as I know many more people would like to see it.”
Sinead Mangan
ABC
“An exciting and entertaining Western Australian work, this initial season has sold out, been extended and sold out again – and hopefully the production will go on to have a long and successful life, bringing a classic coming of age story of courage to many more audiences everywhere. Rating: 4 ½ out of 5 stars.”
